2024 Kristof Farms LADIS Pinot Noir
The inaugural release of LADIS is both our most personal wine and the highest expression of our vineyard. Named in honor of Nick’s father, Ladis Kristof, it pays tribute to a life defined by courage, resilience, and hope. As a young man, Ladis resisted the Nazis, fled Eastern Europe during World War II, and ultimately found refuge in Oregon in 1952. His determination to build a new life helped shape the values that continue to guide our family and our farm today.
It is fitting, then, that this wine comes from a singular place. Produced entirely from a single especially expressive vineyard block and selected from the most compelling barrels of the vintage, LADIS represents a rare convergence of site, season, and craftsmanship.
The bouquet is hauntingly complex, unfolding in layers of rose petal, potpourri, sandalwood, and exotic spice over black cherry, wild blackberry, and summer plum. With time in the glass, notes of sage, tarragon, forest floor, and crushed stone emerge, revealing new dimensions with every swirl.
On the palate, the wine is both powerful and graceful. Rich dark fruit, spice, and floral notes are carried by a seamless structure and remarkable depth of texture. The wine expands across the palate, gaining momentum and complexity before resolving into an exceptionally long finish marked by minerality, spice, and lingering floral notes.
